Apart from the fact that the musical performance must be of the highest quality, a band’s presentation is also a decisive factor in the assessment: how do the musicians manage to interest the various target groups in their programme? Ingenuity and originality will be highly important factors in the assessment of their performance, as is the choice of their programme. Which compositions will they play, and do they present a balanced programme?

The professional jury will consist of:

• important international musicians with experience;
• an actor or presenter;
• a general independent chairperson.

For the professional jury of OnWings! 2009 the following musicians had been contracted:

Arno Bornkamp (saxophonist)
studied in Amsterdam and Paris and is since his solo debut in 1982 a well-kwnown saxophone soloist. He was reponsible for premiere performances of compositions by a.o. Luciano Berio and Harrison Birtwistle and Dutch composers like Gert van Keulen, Simon Burgers and Jacob ter Veldhuis dedicated their Concerto’s for Saxophone to him.

His performances as a soloist and as the leader of the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet brought him everywhere in the World. A highlight in his career was the 1996 Prinsengrachtconcert in Amsterdam, attended by 15.000 visitors. Arno Bornkamp is lecturer at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Universiteé Européenne d’Eté in Gap (France).

Gregor Bak (Dutch television presenter)
studied piano and musicology at the University of Utrecht. Since 1994 he presented for the Dutch television a.o. ‘Schoolstrijd’ (a quiz for students), ‘Like father, like Son’, ‘Thank you for the Music’, ’BovenGemiddeld’ (quiz) and ’De zingende zaak’ (together with Jochem van Gelder)

Apart fom his television work, Gregor Bak performs as a piano player and is choir conductor of a.o. tghe Oerl Kozakkenkoor. In 2004, he accompanied the soprano Miranda van Kralingen during her Theatre concerts. At present he is one of the adjudicators of the popular programme Una Voce Particolare, presented by the Dutch tenor Ernst Daniël Smid.
